Kathy Sumner, PT, Clinical Director
Kathy earned her degree in Physical Therapy from Temple University. She has been a
Physical Therapist since 1981 and has worked at DSMC since 1991. Kathy specializes in
women's health issues and has certificates of completion for an integrated approach to
pelvic pain, pelvic dysfunction, soft tissue mobilization, and treatment. Her work
experience includes geriatrics, orthopedics, and homecare.
Brian Cassel, PT, ATC, CSCS
Brian earned his undergraduate degree in Human Sciences and Services at the University
of Rhode Island and his Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Temple University.
He is also a Polestar Certified Pilates Instructor, Certified Sportsmetrics Instructor,
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Certified Athletic Trainer. Brian's
career in Physical Therapy has focused primarily on outpatient orthopedics. He began his
career at DSMC in 2001 as an athletic trainer. He has been working as a physical therapist
at DSMC since 2006.
Varina Doman, PTA
Varina earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Italian from
Dickinson College. She is also a graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College's
Physical Therapy Assistant Program. She joined the DSMC team as a part-time Physical
Therapist Assistant in 2003 and enjoys the challenges and rewards of orthopedic physical
therapy.
John Kerr, PTA, CSCS
John received his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University. He is
also a graduate of Lehigh Carbon Community College's Physical Therapy Assistant
Program. John worked at DSMC from 1997 to 2005 and rejoined the team in 2007.
John's career focus is on outpatient orthopedics and myofascial release. Additionally,
John offers personal and sports training, in addition to wellness, sports, and deep tissue
massage.
Rachel Schew, MSPT
Rachel joined the DSMC staff in June 2007. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology
from Moravian College in 2000, and a Master's of Science in Physical Therapy from
Thomas Jefferson University in 2003. Rachel is currently pursuing advanced certification
in therapy for the low back and neck (McKenzie Certification).
