Walking/Hiking Analysis

The most universal mode of human locomotion that is taken for granted...until it starts to breakdown.  It seems so simple...walking. Yet, over time when done with poor mechanics it can be one of the most debilitating activities we do.
The Walkin/Hiking Analysis is a comprehensive biomechanical assessment designed to give walkers and hikers a full understanding of their walking or hiking form (gait).  Walkers and hikers like you utilize this analysis to identify biomechanical tendencies that contribute to injury and affect walking and hiking economy (i.e. performance efficiency.)

Faulty movement patterns when you walk can lead to overuse of bone, joints, tendons, ligaments and muscle.  Overuse patterns can lead to pain and loss of performance.  Research shows that gaining strength and flexibility do not automatically correlate to a positive change in How you walk.  The Walking/Hiking Analysis gives us an in-depth breakdown of your walking form.  It provides us with vital information about how your walking form is contributing to current injury, loss of performance efficiency, and/or the potential risk of injury or re-injury.  Understanding your faulty movement patterns during walking is a major step in recovering from or preventing injury, as well as improving performance.

The Walking/Hiking Analysis is comprised of multiple state-of-the-art technologies utilized to assess walking gait in our lab.  A specialized treadmill is utilized to measure force, time, step and spatial parameters.  High-speed video motion analyses are performed to assess your biomechanical tendencies associated with walking mechanics and to break down your specific walking mechanics.   All parameters are capable of being assess in both uphill and downhill walking.  The analysis takes about two hours. With the information gathered from The Walking/Hiking Analysis a complete plan can be set out and executed to help you achieve your walking or hiking goals.
